Trong kế hoạch tăng cường và phát triển hoạt động ở Mã Lai, Liên Minh CAMSA đang tuyển nhân viên quản trị chương trình cho toàn quốc. Làm việc ở thủ đô Kuala Lumpur, nhân viên này sẽ thường xuyên công tác ở nhiều nơi trên lãnh thổ Mã Lai và ở nhiều quốc gia, kể cả ở Hoa Kỳ.

 

Ngoài việc phát triển hoạt động của Liên Minh CAMSA nhằm bênh vực và can thiệp cho công nhân Việt trên toàn lãnh thổ Mã Lai, nhiệm vụ của nhân viên quản trị chương trình toàn quốc còn bao gồm xây dựng hạ tầng cơ sở cho một số tổ chức địa phương, thiết lập các liên minh giữa những tổ chức này, và nối kết với các tổ chức quốc tế và các chính quyền qua toà đại sứ của họ ở Mã Lai.

 

“Muốn bài trừ nạn buôn người thì các tổ chức ngoài chính phủ, tức NGO, phải vững mạnh. Chúng tôi có nhiều kinh nghiệm về xây dựng năng lực cho các NGO ở Hoa Kỳ và sẽ áp dụng kinh nghiệm này vào Mã Lai”, Ts. Nguyễn Đình Thắng, Giám Đốc Điều Hành Uỷ Ban Cứu Người Vượt Biển, cho biết.

 

Đầu năm nay Liên Minh CAMSA phối hợp với Tenaganita, tổ chức lớn nhất của Mã Lai về phòng chống buôn người, để mở văn phòng thường trực chuyên lo cho người Việt. Hiện có 130 ngàn công nhân Việt đang làm việc và hàng ngàn phụ nữ bị bán vào các ổ mãi dâm ở quốc gia này.

 

Đầu tháng 8, Liên Minh CAMSA phát động chiến dịch yểm trợ tài chánh và đến nay đã nhận được sự ủng hộ của hàng trăm ân nhân tham gia như những thành viên bảo trợ. Mỗi thành viên bảo trợ đóng góp căn bản 100 Mỹ kim một năm và giúp chuyển tin đến các người quen. 

 

Hiện nay Liên Minh CAMSA đang tiếp tục kêu gọi sự ủng hộ của cộng đồng người Việt ở hải ngoại nhằm mở rộng phạm vi hoạt động đến nhiều quốc gia.

Title: CAMSA Country Manager for Malaysia

 

Coalition to Abolish Modern-day Slavery in Asia (CAMSA), founded by four sponsoring organizations, aims to eliminate trafficking of men, women and children in, from, and to Asian countries.  The coalition achieves this long-term goal through a comprehensive strategy that includes:  (1) rescue and protect victims; (2) punish traffickers through economic and legal means; and (3) pressure the governments of the source and destination countries to enact and enforce anti-trafficking laws and policies. 

 

The CAMSA Country Manager for Malaysia will be employed by Boat People SOS, Inc. (BPSOS), a national Vietnamese-American community-based organization and member of CAMSA, and will be placed with Tenaganita in Kuala Lumpur. The main functions of this position include:  (1)     build the capacity and develop the infrastructure for Tenaganita in evaluation, financial management, fund development, etc. in order to achieve programmatic and financial stability; (2) facilitate the partnership between Tenaganita and HELP University College in counseling services for trafficked victims;  (3) support the on-going joint Tenaganita-CAMSA operation in Penang and expand this model to cover Vietnamese workers throughout Malaysia.  The successful candidate will receive two months of intense training at the national headquarters of BPSOS in Falls Church, Virginia, before placement in Malaysia.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

·         Form a coalition of at least five overseas NGOs and five local NGOs to support project activities;

·         Recruit pro bono lawyers and social workers to legal and human services to identified victims;

·         Recruit advocates in Penang to start public education for community members, workers serving as peer leaders, and employers;

·         Work with partners to host training seminars for law enforcement agents, NGO workers, media representatives, and advocates;

·         Support Tenaganita in the development of a standard operation manual, procedures for data collection, performance evaluation, financial management, and reporting to meet the expectations of international donors and funding agencies; 

·         Work with the Department of Psychology at HELP University College to establish counseling services for trafficked victims referred by Tenaganita;

·         Work with the Penang office to develop a nationwide network of NGOs, pro bono lawyers, social workers, and advocates to identify and assist victims of exploitation and trafficking;

·         Develop a curriculum to train Vietnamese workers in life skills and vocational skills for improved employment and a better future;

·         Supervise CAMSA intern in Malaysia;

·         Network with local, regional and international organizations doing compatible work, and with US and other foreign embassies.

 

 Requirements:

1.      College degree plus at least one year in community or social services;

2.      Proven organizational skills, social networking skills, effective communication skills, and ability to multitask;

3.      Fluency in English and Bahasa;

4.      Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet);

5.      Team player with demonstrated ability to interact professionally with staff, clients, fund and service providers and to work productively in diverse team settings or independently;

6.      Willingness to work evenings and weekends, when required;

7.      Deep commitment to social justice and dignity for guest workers;

8.      Eligible to work in Malaysia.

 

Salary: Depending upon experience, plus benefits.
